SOS – Sunday on Saturday

Messy church is all about as many different people as possible sharing and having fun together. Through craft and worship activities they discover more about each other and the God who loves them unconditionally. People bring different gifts and talents to be used, shared and grown as they journey together and become part of a God centred, fun centred environment.

Did I mention the food? Well, a great time is also had as we share food together before we worship God through a short service of songs, prayers and stories.

Here are some comments from some people who have attended previous sessions.

My 2 year old daughter burst into the house after being to SOS and could not wait to tell her Dad how much fun she had and how exciting it was.

My son loved it, he does not normally join in with craft activities but there was so much to choose from that he found plenty to do.

A group of Brownies came last time and really enjoyed all the activities and can’t wait to come to the next one.

That was the best one yet, well done.

We love coming please don’t change anything about it!

So, what actually happens at SOS messy church?

SOS begins at 4.30pm with craft and play activities e.g. making necklaces, building dens and shelters, assembling flower arrangements, using play dough, icing biscuits and all sorts of other things depending on the theme and not just for children adults join in too..

Just after 5pm we break fora service where we sing pray and share together about the things we have made

The session ends with food like potato topped chicken pie, hotdogs, fish fingers or chilli always with a vegetarian option (not forgetting cakes and yummy sweet things too!)

We aim to finish for 6 o’clock. If you haven’t tried it; come and join us! Check out some photographs at St. Barnabas.

Don’t forget that on these weeks St. Barnabas church meets on Saturday not Sunday!!

We hope to see you at SOS very soon!
