Sewing GroupIn 1998 a small group of ladies decided to get together and
mark the millennium by creating a new altar frontal for the Chapel. They worked
together on the design, a grape vine. This represented the church rooted and
alive and fruitful in the community.
This was so successful that the group then continued, making and mending
other items for use in the Church. Projects have included vestments, banners
and other altar frontals. There have also been the fun things, soft toys, patchwork
covers, cushions and blankets etc. The most recent projects were the new red altar frontal for
the high altar and an extremely popular Mouse Fest in 2022 with over 100 knitted
mice sporting a variety of costumes with participation from members of the
wider Thatcham community. The group will be making things for sale later in the year
including the 2024 Teddy Bear Fest. The group meets each Monday at one of the group’s houses
where there is plenty of time to relax and chat whilst sewing, knitting or
crocheting. Anyone, man or woman, with sewing, knitting crochet or
embroidery skills is welcomed to join this group; please contact the Parish Office. |
