A
new ministry among older people was launched in September 2021, led by the
Churches in Thatcham, called Vintage Adventure. What
is Vintage Adventure? ·
It’s
a different way of doing church ·
It’s
Christ-centred worship with fun, fellowship and food ·
It’s
creative worship in which everyone can celebrate in comfort ·
It
touches all the senses ·
It
makes space for friendship ·
It’s
a ministry among older people ·
It’s
inclusive and dementia friendly “…is based on Messy (Church) principles of
creativity, hospitality and celebration”
“…sets people free to be who God wants them
to be” Quotes
from Debbie Thrower (former BBC news broadcaster), Anna Chaplaincy Pioneer Two
comments from people who have attended our Vintage Adventure: “It’s the best afternoon’s fun I’ve had for
ages!” “I came along on my own, not really knowing
what to expect and I’ve felt really welcome.” We
are particularly mindful that many older people feel unable to return to formal
Sunday worship since the pandemic and others have enjoyed little social
interaction as a result of Covid restrictions. Some people are reconnecting
with their faith and others are simply curious about the Christian faith. At Vintage Adventure there is a place for
everyone. You
are assured of a warm welcome… and refreshments and homemade cakes! Please
do come along. Encourage others or invite your neighbours across Thatcham who
are young at heart to join us. |
